Primitive Cabinet Pre-Makeover

I have has this discount store cabinet for years!! It's one of those cheap put it yourself together items that I think I've had for at least 10 years. My husband HATES this cabinet & threatens to take it outside & burn it....the door never stays closed.... I looked at it the other day also hating it and wondered hmmmm, I'd love a new cabinet but can't afford one so the brainstorming began! I am truly make do, forced out of finance mostly but I love a good challenge! I had my hubby cut me a little piece of wood to use as a latch & have my trusty sponge roller & magical black acrylic paint. What can black paint, sandpaper & antiquing gel not fix? We'll see!! They say you can't paint these laminate pieces but I figure I have nothing to lose!! I am beginning the project tomorrow so keep an eye out for the transformation!
