Primitive Cabinet Pre-Makeover

I have has this discount store cabinet for years!! It's one of those cheap put it yourself together items that I think I've had for at least 10 years. My husband HATES this cabinet & threatens to take it outside & burn it....the door never stays closed.... I looked at it the other day also hating it and wondered hmmmm, I'd love a new cabinet but can't afford one so the brainstorming began! I am truly make do, forced out of finance mostly but I love a good challenge! I had my hubby cut me a little piece of wood to use as a latch & have my trusty sponge roller & magical black acrylic paint. What can black paint, sandpaper & antiquing gel not fix? We'll see!! They say you can't paint these laminate pieces but I figure I have nothing to lose!! I am beginning the project tomorrow so keep an eye out for the transformation! I'll be posting more pics soon of another project and my little downstairs bath that I am also getting ready to tweak. Happy Sunny Sunday!!!!  ~Kriss~

~*Spring Babies*~

Two posts in one day?? Got the camera out and decided to share a few things....the sun is shining for the second day in a row, not the norm for northeast Pennsylvania in March!! Maybe that got my motivation up?? I bought the cute little potted plants at Target in the dollar aisle and at Dollar General. They were $1 each! Came with the pot, little soil disc and seeds. They are Lucky Clover, Purple Coneflower & Blue Forget Me Nots. I planted them about three weeks ago and they brighten up my kitchen windowsill reminding me that spring WILL come!!

I found a great bargain for $1.99 at Wegmans for a cute Jasmine plant that I potted in one of my brown crocks (as I took the picture I noticed that it's leaking....uh oh) and yesterday found these Purple Crocus & Blue Muscari at Giant Eagle for $1.25 each! I think I want to go back and get a few more of the Crocus and plant them in terra cotta pots and place them in a huge old wooden bowl I keep on my dining room table and fill it out with excelsior & some wooden eggs for spring. LOVE the taste of spring with these little sweeties!!
