Heartfelt Prayers for Tornadoe Outbreaks

I'd like to take the time to wish prayers & peace to all those who have been directly or indirectly affected by the outbreak of tornadoes over the past weeks. I  personally know the tragedy & loss as I lost my home on May 2, 1983 to a tornado. We were blessed to not have any fatalities, my heart aches for those of you who have lost loved ones, friends & pets. There are no words to soothe the soul at a time like this, just know that as each day brings a new sunrise it will also bring strength, hope & courage as the days pass. **If ANYONE out there needs a sympathetic ear or advice on how to get through the days please feel free to contact me at ANY time. I am setting up a new email account so if you are not able to reach me there just leave a comment & I will get back to you as quickly as I can.** Blessings & love to you all.   ~Kriss~

**Royal Wedding**

Did any of you get up early to watch the royal wedding? Prince William looked so handsome & Cate was a radiant bride. I just love the magic and romance of it all!! I remember watching Prince Charles & Diana's wedding and this was just as much fun. It really made me miss my mom, wish she was still here! We watched C&D together...she would have loved this! I was really irritated by all the comments about Catherine's family. Good for William to choose a "commoner", his mom would have been proud! Just love all this romantic stuff, can you imagine what it would feel like to really be a princess??

Some Pending Projects....Ideas??

Good morning!! The sun is FINALLY shining here at least until the storms blow in later. Have I mentioned that I am sick of lousy weather? We went from cold & snow to cold & rain and all of this rain is killing us. We've had issues with our basement flooding for weeks now. My poor husband has spent hours down there working. We don't have the $ to have a professional come in although he has done everything they would. He was going to rent a power snake again last Saturday and had the basement dry & ready but it poured Friday night & flooded again so he couldn't do it as it's electric. He had to go out of town a couple of weeks ago and we had rain almost the entire time so my boys had to keep running the pump and watching it....what a weekend of fun! I lost so many of my cake decorating supplies & cans of paint I had stored in the basement for future projects that it made me sick. At this point if it doesn't get fixed I'm thinking of converting the basement into a spa....just throw some bubbles in the water and light some candles, what do you think??

Anyway.......on the funner side (is that a word?) I have a couple of projects up my sleeve. I got this great little farm house table & chairs in February from the store I sell my things to. Swapped out the table for one I had bought awhile ago to resell that never sold & they sold me the set of chairs for &12.00 for the set!! The table was already refinished in this great mustard paint so it's good to go but the chairs need a little love. The previous owner painted....yes painted....the woven seats green and there is stenciling on the chair backs. The stencils are on the border of being okay but I have decided to paint them black & lightly distress them & TRY to scrub the paint off the seats. It's pretty dry & chippy so I think I might be able to. If not I'm going to paint (shiver) them over with a tan base and sew some plain chair pads. I'll keep ya in on the process!!

Here is where I need some advice. I have this cabinet in my kitchen and am not sure what to do with it. I hate everything about it right now from the finish to what I have on it....the brownware jugs are just on there to fill the space until I know what to do with it. Should I just sand the glossy finish & throw some stain on top, should I paint & distress it...is so what color...black again, brown, tan?? I should have taken a picture of that whole area...it sits to the right of my refrigerator. I hate this whole wall....hate what's on the other side of the fridge too. Maybe I'll post a picture of the whole area & you can all help me get ideas as to what to do. I'll have to use what I already have here to work with so I'll be a bit limited. Any ideas would be great!! The only color I am against is red, like the look but I find I'm not able to work with it. My kitchen cabinets turned out on the red side & I hate them & can't wait until I can repaint. Help!!!!! Hope to hear from you!! ~Kriss~

A Wonderful Easter!!

Bunny I also made for my store in Corry, he's missing his collar & peas & carrots in his arms!!

Little clay eggs I made

Me & my boys....woke them all up from an after dinner nap to get this shot!!

My flowers got a little smooshed, guess I should have picked another cake to shoot!!

PB&choc crosses, fudge filled, PB cups, coconut&almond filled & plain chocolates

Marshmallow "peep" YUMMY!!!!!!

The brown eggs I dyed with tea & the blue I sponged with food color

Another Easter come & gone!! It ended up a little different than expected but we really enjoyed it anyway. My uncle wasn't feeling well and they called at the last minute to say they wouldn't be coming and my cousin had to work so she & her family couldn't come so it ended up being the four of us and my other cousin and his wife...from 12 to 6...small & cozy in the end....and a TON of food LOL!! I felt bad that they all had to miss out on the food & fun but sometimes things just happen! We will have ham salad, fried ham, ham & scalloped potatoes, ham & potato soup, ham, ham & more ham!!!!! Anyone for pizza????? Took some pics but my camera had a mind of it's own. Even with new batteries I could only get a few shots & then it would shut off? Got a few of my candies & cakes and a couple random shots of simple Easter vignettes in my house but that was it! I completely enjoyed making the candy & dusting off my supplies to make the cakes (wow were my skills dusty!). I made up a couple of small packages of candies and cakes for two of my dearest friends and my hubby took them over to them on Easter morning. I think he knew if I went it would be no quick trip(we like to visit right girls??). If you like marshmallow peeps you have to try the recipe from Martha Stewarts Easter magazine...they were wonderful...no calories either...you eat them and your butt shrinks to a size 8!! Hope you all had a great holiday and got to share it with those you love!  ~Kriss~

Easter Candy

Picked up the last couple of things I needed last night to make Easter candy this year. I haven't made candy in years & I am so excited to do it!! I've been picking up my supplies for a couple of months a little each week so I can make a lot for little! Had my husband get my molds from the basement....I DO NOT go there, that's where the spiders are!!!!! Think I'm going to start some tonight. Also going to make some cute little mini cakes and Easter cookies. I'll post pics when I'm done with them.

We're having Easter dinner here and I am so excited about how I want to dress my table. Love the light colors of spring but I am going to stay with blues & browns. I have Pfaltzgraff Folkart plates and am hoping to find brown paper napkins, I want to tuck the cutlery inside & wrap with twine or jute. I'm also going to sponge my hard cooked eggs with blue dye and put them in one of my wooden bowls with some excelsior. Martha Stewart has a template in her spring magazine for bunny place markers that I am planning to make with brown paper bags....hope it all comes together as I see it in my mind LOL!! I'll post pics!!

Primitive Easter Cross Stitch Pattern Sneak Peek!!

Here is one finished set of Easter pillows that I designed and stitched and a picture of one that is a work in progress. I have high hopes THIS WEEK to get patterns listed on Patternmart. They will be available in paper & epattern form. Hope you like them!!  ~Kriss~

Cabinet Makeover

Here it is....not too bad!! I started it last Sunday night and had it done on Wednesday. This proves you CAN paint laminate.....keep an eye out for those ugly castoffs at the thrift store and yard sales!! The only suggestion I have is that you thin out your antiquing solution (I use Folkart Antiquing Medium on everything!) with water. I ended up having to retouch & reantique because it wiped so much of the paint off when I put it on full strength the first time. I couldn't find my little block of wood my hubby cut out for the turn handle but when I do I'll paint it and screw it on above the handle (the handle is new...just a plain wood knob). I see from the comments posted that other people have had success with this too. THANKS so much for leaving comments!! I was like a little girl on Christmas morning!! This blogging is going to be addictive :o) Hope you enjoy the pics!! Be sure to peak at my other new posts too....have a sneek peak at my patterns!   ~Kriss~
